I wanted to do something a little different on the spears to give them a jungle-ish feel. The way they were segmented really reminded me of bamboo. I painted the shafts in Charred Brown. I then painted each segment with Terra Earth, Khaki and Bone White. With each subsequent highlight I focused in the center and left the previous color showing through at the edges. Finally, I hit the shaft with a heavy wash of Devlan Mud. Really simple and I like the effect, though next time I will probably cut back on the Devlan Mud a bit as I went a little to heavy.
