More Dwarf Goodness...

After a late night session the Hammerers are nearly done, I just have to add their shields and finish the bases.  I've finished putting together another 8 quarrelers and I've added another rank of 5 miners.

Dwarf Army Update

Work continues on the newest additions to the Dwarf Army for the Brawler Bash.  I've nearly got the Hammerers complete.  While I don't think they would win a Golden Demon I am very happy with the how they turned out.  My goal with them is to take them to a high table top standard.  To me that means only using a few highlight layers and relying on washes where possible.  I still have to finish the gems, boots and some jewelry. 

Next up is the Quarrelers.  I actually have some, but I think I can do better.  So I've assembled 16 out of a battalion box.  Then I purchased some extra bodies from Ebay and made an an additional 8 for a total of 24.  I also added another 5 mines to the unit.  BTW -  the new GW painting station is awesome!  I love to use it for assembling models while sitting with the family watching TV.

Here is my work in progress for a new cannon.  As you can see I'm going for a diorama effect of the Dwarfs actually getting the cannon ready to fire again.

One final comment is that I got the remainder of my resin terrain shipment from Pardulon.  I'm really looking forward to assembling the rest of the buildings and seeing how the village shapes up.

Orcs and Goblin Release at Memphis Battle Bunker

First, thanks to Ed at the Memphis Battle Bunker for a great time!  Getting a chance to meet and speak with Jeremy Vetock was a blast and the big battle was the icing on the cake.

Progress...

Things are moving right along on my new 14 Hammerers.  Essentially, they guys will become the new 1.5 ranks for a 30 many horde unit.   Since these Hammerers will be judged at the Brawler Bash I figured I would spend a little more time on them. 

Thursday night I got the mettalics layed down on the Hammerers.

Friday I got the most of the base colors on, First Devlan Mud wash and first layer of highlights.  I've also started on the beards.

I wanted to mention the eyes as my method is a little different.  I paint the eyes by painting a dark oval in the center of the eye socket.  This is followed by two tiny dots of white to give the impression of a pupil.  I find this technique is a lot easier than trying to actually paint in a pupil (models end up looking with a crazy stare!).  This time I painted the oval with Charred Brown and used Ivory for the sclera (white part of the eye).  I like the results.

Still a long ways to go - but progress is progress. 

Finally, lest I get called a slacker I got 5 more miners assembled from the bits I got off Ebay.  Also, check out these bags of coolness I got in the mail yesterday!!!

Bone Head Terrain

The resin house is coming along.  The finished house looks awesome, though putting it together has been a comedy of errors!  First mistake - I put the second story on in the wrong direction so the two windows are partially blocked by the half roof.  I fixed it  by boarding up the windows.  Second mistake - I magnetized the roof to the second story, it should have been magnetized to the 3rd story!  I'm leaving this house as a two story and I will buy an additional 2 story which I will convert to a three story.  To magnetize I put a magnets in each corner, but I offset one corner so I can easily figure out which direction the room goes on.
